Milen Radkov – 2019 Speaker’s Showcase

Milen Radkov, CEO of Hack.bg

Our next speaker was one of the first to join our line-up this year’s edition of LibertyBits which we very much appreciate. We are happy to introduce Milen Radkov, Founder and CEO of hack.bg – Blockchain Development and Consulting. Milen is a blockchain developer and enthusiast, software engineer and entrepreneur. He is founder of several software companies, the most successful of which is hack – a rapid growing software company with main focus on developing products and consulting in the blockchain technology space and complex software systems.

Milen is also the organizer of several blockchain related technological meetups in Bulgaria among which Blockchain Developers Meetup and Polkadot Sofia meetup. He is an Ambassador for Gitcoin: Ethereum based decentralized platform for software engineering gigs, and technology adviser for the WeiDex, the first Bulgarian decentralized exchange which is aiming to provide additional privacy, security and freedom to the end user.

Milen has lots of development experience as web and mobile developer and software programmer. Last but not least, he is privacy advocate and a huge fan of Zero-Knowledge Proofs.

Who are you?

My name is Milen Radkov and I’m the founder of hack – Blockchain & DLT Solutions company, where we are giving our contribution to the blockchain space by helping startups and enterprises harvest and benefit from what blockchain and distributed ledger technologies can offer.

Why did you decide to join the speaker’s lineup of LibertyBits conference?

I was attending last year’s edition of LibertyBits conference which was great. Taking part of this year’s edition gives me the opportunity to share my vision and opinion with other enthusiasts and professionals from the blockchain ecosystem, as well as bringing my knowledge to all the visitors.

What is your understanding of “liberty” (freedom) and what are the most underestimated threats to our modern society?

Liberty is a natural human right, which is nowadays being highly neglected and ignored by big corporations, governments, advertisers and other central entities.

I see liberty as the the freedom of speech without being censored or prosecuted, the right to be forgotten, the right to own your intellectual properties. Liberty is the ability to own and control your money and assets, not banks. Liberty is when governments cannot erode your wealth by printing money backed by debt. Liberty is to not be constantly manipulated, targeted and monetized, to be able to go off the grid if that’s what your vision for free life is.

What is the most fascinating or inspiring thing about blockchain for you?

Blockchain fascinates me for how math, cryptography, and economy are closely tied together to create a system giving the ability to interact directly peer-to-peer, making transparent transactions of value or data.

But I’m most inspired by the privacy preserving cryptography, such as Zero-knowledge protocols, used in some blockchain networks, enhancing them with great level of privacy.

What could be the biggest benefit from the blockchain technology for us as a society?

Transparency, privacy, true ownership of assets, removal of the unnecessary middlemen and intermediaries and interact peer-to-peer. This all sounds great, but in order for us to achieve it, our society has to be more educated about this new economy.

What are your expectations from the conference?

I expect from the conference to meet new like-minded people as it will bring together knowledgeable people from various spheres. And of course – to learn something new.

Many thanks, Milen! As you can see, there could be only one step from a guest to a LibertyBits speaker. Milen was among our guests in 2018 and has proactively made his way to a speaker in 2019. Intelligent and energetic people like Milen who have a good something to share with the audience are always welcome with us!
